Airline Security Managers and Instructors
A comprehensive 5 day training course suitable for airline security personnel, security managers and trainers. The course addresses the issues raised by the current security climate and heightened threat levels, taking into account the motivations and tactics which have been used recently and those which may be employed in future attacks on aviation. The learning format includes use of classroom instruction, group discussions, video footage and case studies alongside practical exercises, which incorporate hands-on training with inert explosive devices and their component parts.
The course defines the types of security interference, identifies the types of possible attacker and analyses their aims. Specific attention is given to explosive and incendiary devices (I.E.D/I.I.D) and hijack.
The syllabus includes comprehensive information on explosive and incendiary devices, recognition of their component parts and the impact and effect of an explosion. It incorporates the procedures for the pilots and cabin crew in the event of a bomb warning in the air or the discovery of a suspicious package whilst airborne.
The course details the precautions which should be applied to counter the risk of hijack, and the procedures which should be adopted by personnel in the event of an aircraft take-over and hostage situation. The training will increase understanding of the hijacker’s motivations and characteristics, this in turn will develop an awareness of reactions to minimise the risk of violence, and contribute to the safety of those on board.
